So, it turns out that Peter Cullen's final recorded performance was for the theatrical short being shown along with the anniversary screenings of TF:TM. I... am trying to maintain my cautious optimism. But I was already side-eyeing the whole "apology tour" gimmick and so I can't help but be worried that this is just going to annoy me, lol. Though I would hope that they wouldn't go ahead with it so soon after his death if it was something tarnishing. On the other hand, I don't really trust the suits to know any better...

How is it already September, I don't understand...

We've got so many silk worm nests at my apartment complex this year, it's almost like the beginning of a horror movie, lol. Like Kingdom of the Spiders but with moths. Not that I'm complaining. A lot of the nests are pretty low and easy to look into. I've always loved watching the silk worms dance~

I am a little worried about them, though, tbh. Not sure if I should be, as I've not as yet taken the time to look into their ideal conditions, but it's been so frikkin hot lately... I'll have to do my research later but for now, I just hope they're alright.

I've been watching these wasps work on a nest for, like, two weeks now and it's still puny as heck. Barely visible when they're all clustered on it, tbh, and I think there are only seven of them. The nest is up in a corner outside where I like to eat my lunch at work and I've gotten to where I go out, set my stuff down and look up at them while asking if they're working hard or hardly working. I don't know why, lol, I'm just invested now.

Went to see Coyote vs ACME with my sister tonight and it was a fun time. Lots of Who Framed Roger Rabbit in its DNA but it tells its own story. I would've liked for the world to be better fleshed out-- it's not really clear what cartoons are in this world-- but I still thought it did a good enough job of showing that "real" people and toons live alongside each other. Cartoon characters are shown to hold both menial and important roles in society-- and this puts them in position to be as flawed as any other demographic. We see that toons in this world, like in the world of Roger Rabbit before it, are perfectly willing to exploit one another.

The humor was consistently quite good and the human actors and animated characters alike really sell it. Some nice little continuity jokes and call-backs in there in addition to the more movie-specific gags. I can't think of any jokes that didn't land. And I especially appreciated that even though there was a sense of irreverence to it, the movie never undermines its own emotional core. The writers weren't afraid to let characters be sincere when it mattered.

I absolutely loved how Wile E was characterized. The other characters were fun, too, but he was the stand-out, as he should be in a movie where his name's in the title. I was a little disappointed a couple of minor points. Foghorn is dismissive of harm done to other toons due to how resilient they are and he demonstrates this by whacking himself with a mallet. While he's never had the strongest plot armor, his shorts still typically see him as the one dishing out the punishment. I think the movie's point about exploitation would've been stronger if he were portrayed as someone who puts himself above having to take his own medicine. It's a small thing, though, and as my sister pointed out, there's a big difference between the ongoing abuse other cartoon characters suffer and him giving himself a minor injury to make a point. I also felt like the movie raised an interesting point about people being willing to ignore the suffering of others when it benefits them and then doesn't really take the time to follow up on it in a satisfying way.

Overall, I'm so very glad that this movie got saved from the tax break landfill.

Went to the farmers market today, albeit just for a short trip. Still couldn't get my hands on any lettuce or spring mix, alas. I did get some tomatoes, cucumber and onion and a jar of honey, though. I wanted to get some peppers and herbs, too, but the booths I like were way too crowded. It was frikkin hot today and also we wanted to get back in good time because my brother and sister-in-law were going to stop over for a bit with their littlest two. Their youngest daughter (six, I think?) is doing baseball this year and it turns out her team practices nearby. So, I was finally able to hand over last year's Christmas gifts to the SIL and the littles, since I missed them when my sister and I ambushed my brother before.

I knew I'd done something to my leg because I could feel a tender spot but, wow, have I given myself a nasty bruise somehow... I'm no stranger to mysterious bruising but I can't remember the last time I had one this big or dark. Nor can I remember for the life of me what I could possibly have done to cause it.

Man, wtf is going on this week... I would not have begun to consider that I'd make three posts in a row regarding celebrity deaths in 2026 but, omg, Peter Cullen now??

Aaand it was the wrong eighty-year-old again. I really need the Grim Reaper to get it together.

I don't typically pay much attention to celebrity deaths anymore but the Dolly Parton news is really getting to me. I. don't want to wax too much about it. She committed her share of typical rich people sins. But she also did a lot of good and she went out of her way to do it. And she's leaving behind a legacy that's going to continue to help a lot of children in regards to literacy, which is something we desperately need right now. She was a cultural touchstone and for good reason. Heck, I live in Tennessee-- I'm almost surprised they didn't send us all home when the news dropped.

Then there's just that fact that, like. Come on. There are so many evil old people walking around already rotting. And this is the person we lose next? If I may be so callous-- and indeed I may, s'my page-- the reaper grabbed the wrong eighty-year-old...

Travis is such a brat sometimes... Not only did I spend a ton of time trying to interest him in his rat, he didn't even eat it. But he also got it into a position where I wasn't about to try bother it until he was fed. So, I had to defrost a second rat and give it to him while he was well and truly primed for it. That second, successful was this morning and then I had to wait until I got home to get the old rat out. It was already bloating and the bare skin was already turning purple and it smelled gross because of frikkin course it smelled gross. And this obnoxious noodle was still laying on it, so I had to move him too. He didn't lunge at me or anything, though, which is a minor win.

Those Transformers Blokees leaks are confirmed and the promo images are out. Arcee and Windblade are both looking pretty dang cute, though they went with a design I don't love for the latter and I think they've given the former cleavage. I really wish the powers that be would stop doing that. It's not only unnecessary, it looks stupid with her chest design. Tbh, though, it might just be the angles and photo touch-ups or something in this case. They've taken some kind of creative liberty in their approach to her color breakup, in any case, but there's not really anything wrong with that. Anyway, I might aim to get two of each of them so I can paint one up in their Combiner Hunter decos. Idk if there's gonna be a Chromia later down the line to finish the set but it stands to reason, so I might as well invest on the ground floor, lol.

My Jem comics arrived! I've not unwrapped them yet but I'm really looking forward to re-reading the series. And I think there were a few I didn't get around to reading, so this'll be a great way to rectify that. Still, I might wait and see what other people say about this collection first. Sometimes compilations like this are put together in less than ideal ways, in which case I'd wanna couch my expectations.

My brain is well and truly scrambled, Idek. I haven't followed sports in years and here I am hyperfixating on YouTube reactions to Larry Bird highlights, of all things.
